Optional teacher profile fields (like school/district, grades, and standards) help us personalize setup and improve the product (for example: pre-filling settings and prioritizing content for the standards you use). We do not use this information for targeted advertising.

3. When We Share Information

We do not sell personal information and we do not allow advertising, profiling, or marketing based on your usage.

We only share data under these limited circumstances:

AI Provider Data Handling

Model Training: We do not use Student Data to train AI foundation models. When we call third‑party AI provider APIs (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini), we do so under provider terms intended to restrict the use of customer API data for model training.

Data Retention: AI providers may temporarily retain API data for a limited period (typically up to 30 days) for abuse and misuse monitoring, unless required by law to retain it longer. After that, it is deleted according to provider policies. Retention policies and available controls vary by provider.

Personalization Context: When enabled by teacher settings, we may include limited student learning context (e.g., learning preferences, confidence ratings, and interests) to tailor coaching. We do not include student roster names in AI requests, and we avoid sending teacher-only notes and metadata.

FERPA Compliance: When used by Educational Institutions pursuant to a school or district agreement, Instructron acts as a School Official under FERPA (34 CFR § 99.31(a)(1)), processing student data under the direct control and supervision of the Educational Institution.
